Nouveau job : remonte-pente khmer
26 JANVIER 2004

Koh Santepheap :
Two men suspend one of the female weekenders in a hammock climbing across the 809 steps of the stairs from the foot of the mountain up to the mountaintop of Phnom Santuk, where a Buddhist temple is sitting in Kampong Thom province. This is a new good job, from which the locals can make $10 from a Cambodian tourist and $15 to $20 from a foreigner.

New farming : monkey farm !
JANUARY 27th, 2004

Koh Santepheap :This is a four-hectare monkey farm owned by Vietcam Import Export Co, Ltd in Mong Baraing village, Plé commune, Kampong Chhnang district and province. Under the breeding license, it is suspicious that the company raises the monkey for underground export. The locals said the other day there were some 700 monkeys in cages, but when Koh Santepheap Daily correspondent approached there were only about 70 monkeys in the bad-smell cages. Mean Chanthou, 34, is a company representative responsible for feeding hundreds of monkeys. Pumpkins and cattle bran are the monkey’s food.
