King Denies Writing Chea Sim
King Norodom Sihanouk denied a report that he wrote a letter to the Cambodia People’s Party (CPP) President Chea Sim to suggest him to be prime minister of the new government, according to the King’s letter, which was sent to Chea Sim and broadcast on radios and TVs today. Under the letter, the King reportedly appointed Samdech Chea Sim as the new prime minister, while his brother-in-law and current deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Kheng installed as deputy prime minister in charge of the national security, and Funcinpec President Prince Norodom Ranariddh nominated as deputy prime minister in charge of the national culture and fine arts and opposition party leader Sam Rainsy appointed as a senior minister in charge of the finance and economy. “This is an unjust accusation… I have never written such a letter to Samdech Chea Sim,” the King stated in his letter. The King continued that, “there are a group of politicians attempting to topple him because they accused him of being not responsible for their group.”
Recently, many Funcinpec officials were dissatisfied with the King’s letters which they accused written on the ideas of Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk. Most of his letters showed his support for the CPP and Prime Minister Hun Sen. Meanwhile, Chea Sim wrote a letter to King Sihanouk, saying that he didn’t receive such a letter from the King. “I wonder who created this matter… I have never received such letter from Your Majesty the King,” Chea Sim wrote in his letter to the King, which was sent to media organizations in the capital.

FLOODS
SEPTEMBER 12th, 2003

Koh Santepheap : Two students walk their bikes to school in Kompot provincial town where it has come under water by the heavy rainfall in the province since the beginning of this week. It was the fourth time that the rain flooded the Cambodia’s southwestern province which is surrounded by several ranges of mountains. The flood damaged many roads and killed many chickens in the town.

N.P. : Cambodia has six months of floods and six of drought. The people plants rice once a year. With adequate system of captors-dams and irrigation canals, crops can be planted twice, three times a year sustained by fertilizers.

The income of the people will be multiplied by two, three and the economy will boom up by itself. We have now enough civil and rural engineers to man the project. Donor countries and international development banks are ready to help. All Cambodians need are political will and the honesty of both the POLITICIENS and the FONCTIONNAIRES.
